• Demonstrate a deep understanding of core biological principles. Competitors are expected to apply their knowledge of topics like cell biology, genetics, evolution, anatomy, physiology, ecology, and biochemistry to solve complex problems.
• Analyze complex biological issues. Students should be able to interpret and process large amounts of biological information, recognizing the relationships and patterns that lead to deeper insights.

• Develop creative and innovative solutions. Objectives may involve proposing novel solutions to real-world biological problems in areas such as health, environmental protection, and biotechnology. 

Critical thinking and problem-solving

• Think logically and creatively. Competitors are challenged to think beyond memorization and use logical reasoning and critical analysis to approach new biological problems.
• Show adaptability and resilience. Success often depends on a student’s ability to adapt to new situations and persevere through difficult theoretical and practical exams.
