Test Question Structure of XPERTSTEM 2025 According to Bloom’s Taxonomy
Dear Participants and Educators,
While the XPERTSTEM 2025 International Academic Competition evaluates our students’ academic potential in a test format using multiple-choice questions, it also aims to measure their higher-order thinking skills. The secret behind how we achieve these two goals simultaneously lies in Bloom’s Taxonomy, which forms the foundation of our question design.
Contrary to the common belief that multiple-choice tests only measure knowledge, XPERTSTEM 2025 provides an in-depth evaluation covering all six levels of Bloom’s taxonomy, supported by carefully prepared question stems and options.
The table below shows how our multiple-choice test questions in XPERTSTEM 2025 measure students’ cognitive skills step by step.

Sample Question (Subject)
Sample Options and Answer
Bloom’s Level | Core Skill | Reflection in the Test | Sample Question (Subject) | Sample Options & Answer |
1. Knowledge (Remembering) | Remembering basic information, facts, and concepts. | Questions that directly measure fundamental knowledge based on recall. | Biology: Which organelle is responsible for aerobic respiration in humans? | A) Chloroplast |
2. Comprehension (Understanding) | Understanding, interpreting, or summarizing information. | Interpreting, summarizing, or transforming information into another form. | Physics: If the net force acting on an object is zero, which of the following is definitely true? | A) Its velocity is zero. |
3. Application | Applying what has been learned to a new and concrete situation. | Applying learned knowledge or a method to a new situation. | Mathematics: A store offers a 20% discount based on the label price. If the discounted price of a product is 80 TL, what is the original price? | A) 96 TL |
4. Analysis | Breaking information into parts, identifying relationships and cause–effect patterns. | Breaking down information, recognizing relationships, building cause–effect connections (graph/table interpretation). | Chemistry:According to the graph showing the mass ratios of two different compounds formed by elements X and Y, which law do these compounds exemplify? | A) Law of Definite Proportions |
5. Evaluation | Critically judging an idea or solution according to criteria. | Critically judging an argument, solution, or method according to specific criteria. | Coding: For an embedded system with limited memory, which statement is correct for two algorithms that differ in memory usage and speed? | A) Algorithm A is always superior. |
6. Synthesis (Creating) | Combining parts to create an original, new plan, solution, or design. | Combining parts to create an original whole and selecting the most suitable solution or design. | Project-Based / Science: Which is the most suitable system design to ensure energy continuity and cost optimization for an off-grid school? | A) Solar panels only |
Distinctive Features of XPERTSTEM Tests
Strategic Distractors:
Incorrect options are not random; they are carefully designed to target specific misconceptions or incomplete understandings. It is important not only to know the correct answer but also to understand why the other options are incorrect.
Real-Life Scenarios:
Many questions are designed to show how theoretical knowledge is applied to real-world situations.
Multidimensional Assessment:
Questions measure not only “knowing the right answer” but also “seeing why the other options are wrong,” providing deep understanding.
Balanced Distribution:
Our tests include a balanced distribution of all cognitive levels appropriate to each grade level.
Critical Thinking:
Questions encourage strategic thinking and accurate analysis of given information rather than quick processing.
Conclusion
XPERTSTEM 2025 tests are not traditional exams; they are standards-based and fair assessment tools that create a comprehensive profile of a student’s cognitive skills.
By reviewing our curriculum documents, you can see in detail how these skills are measured in each subject and grade level.
Sincerely,
XPERTSTEM 2025 Assessment, and Academic Board
